"China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Afghanistan": the issue of accelerating the delivery of goods through the transport corridor was discussed
From September 8 to 9, 2022, a quadrilateral meeting of representatives of the railway administrations of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan was held in the city of Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan, with the participation of the China International Logistics Company.
The event was held with the aim of accelerating the delivery of goods from China to Afghanistan and developing the logistics infrastructure.
The Kyrgyz delegation was headed by Azamat Sakiyev, the general director of the state-owned enterprise "NK Kyrgyz Temir Jolu". In the framework of the development of partnership, expansion of existing opportunities, perspective projects and new ways of cooperation, issues related to the modernization of the logistics infrastructure of the parties, speeding up the passage of goods from Kashgar (China) to the Khairaton station (Afghanistan) were discussed.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed issues related to the organization of uninterrupted cargo transportation, creating favorable conditions for attracting additional volumes of cargo, and establishing tariff rates.
"Coordinated measures and effective interaction of all Parties of the corridor will add momentum to a promising, new multimodal route, as well as lay the foundation for its future development, increasing the volume of cargo transportation", - emphasized the general director of SE "NK "Kyrgyz Temir Jolu" A. Sakiyev.
As a result of the event, a protocol was signed, which reflected the measures aimed at the development of the multimodal route "China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan - Afghanistan".
Based on the agreement reached, September 13, 2022. 2 containers with cargo from China arrived at the Osh station and were then sent by rail to Afghanistan. In addition, by September 15 this year, 10 containers with cargo from China are expected to arrive via this route.
