UDP creates a single ship repair unit
Ukrainian Dunayske paroplavstvo informs that the sole ship repair unit of the UDP will include the "Fleet Maintenance Base" KHOSP, writes TTS.
"This year, BTOF carried out 132 inter-voyage repairs of the self-propelled fleet and 109 of the non-self-propelled fleet. The non-self-propelled fleet is mainly locksmith and welding work, diagnostics and measurements of hull thicknesses for presentation to the Shipping Register. 566 orders were implemented for the self-propelled fleet: locksmith, welding, carpentry works, repair of electrical automation, installation of air conditioners and other equipment," the message says.
The head of the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company, Dmytro Moskalenko, noted that one of the problems is that a significant part of the work is urgent. Since the fleet is old, there is a constant need for unplanned repairs. Spare parts for ship mechanisms are no longer produced, they have to be searched and purchased for each ship separately
"How to make the organization of work, the purchase of materials, spare parts, the distribution of technical personnel more effective? Given the growth in the number and volume of tasks, the optimal solution is to unite all ship repair units of the UDP into a single structure. The joining of BTOF to KSBSRZ will allow unifying the document flow, to achieve a more planned and coordinated work of ship repairers," he added.
Moskalenko assured that the reorganization does not involve the dismissal of BTOF employees with subsequent employment. The staff of the base includes approximately one hundred employees (locksmith and mechanical section, automation laboratory, gas welding, painting, carpentry shops, BERNK, administrative staff), and all of them will be automatically transferred to similar positions in the new structure.
