The Moldovan government intends to revise the current concession agreement regarding the port of Giurgiulesti, the country's infrastructure minister Andrii Spinu said.
As the government official noted, such plans are due to the fact that "the document contains provisions that should be abandoned."
"There are two ports in this complex - the state port and the Danube, which belongs to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The state has two goals: to develop the state port, because it is poorly developed, and we announced the start of the implementation of this project. The goal is to in the next four to five years, we have invested up to 40 million euros," he explained.
As for the Danube port concession, according to the official, the government's goal is to review this contract and "change its terms or transfer it to a company that we can analyze with lawyers and abandon the illegal terms in this concession agreement." According to Spinu, this aspect is currently being discussed with the EBRD.
Speaking about Romania's plans to buy the port, which were announced a few weeks ago, the infrastructure minister said the matter had not been discussed at an official level.
