237,000 cars were imported into Ukraine during the period of "zero customs clearance".

237,000 cars were imported into Ukraine during almost three months of "zero customs clearance". This was reported by the State Customs Service on Thursday, July 7, in response to ZAXID.NET's information request.

From April 6 to July 1, customs and VAT payments for cars imported from abroad were canceled in Ukraine. During this time, 237 thousand tons were imported into Ukraine. cars, of which 225,100 are passenger cars. For comparison, in the first three months of last year, a total of 100,000 fewer cars were imported into Ukraine.

More than 2,600 cars imported from Europe cost more than 30,000 US dollars. At the same time, the customs office did not keep records of the brands and age of cars. In general, the state budget of Ukraine underpaid more than UAH 26.1 billion due to car customs clearance benefits.

We will remind you that at the beginning of the war, the Verkhovna Rada canceled customs duties and VAT on the import of cars with foreign registration in order to speed up the crossing of the border for volunteers who import cars for the needs of the Armed Forces. This caused quite a stir among those willing to import "euro plates", saving on customs clearance, considerable queues at the borders, and significant losses in at the state budget. Therefore, from July 1, these benefits were canceled, at the same time benefits were introduced for owners of electric cars. Buyers of electric cars pay only a small excise tax – 1 euro per kilowatt battery.
