Australia canceled import duties on a number of Ukrainian goods for a year

The Australian government has announced the abolition of customs duties on the import of a number of goods from Ukraine for 12 months. The changes came into effect on July 5. Exceptions are fuel, alcohol and tobacco products.

This is stated on the website of the Australian Ministry of Trade and Tourism.

The cancellation of the customs duty is part of the support package announced by the country's prime minister following his visit to Kyiv.

Tariffs of up to 5% will be reduced to zero on a number of goods manufactured in Ukraine. At the same time, duties equivalent to excise duties, such as those applied to fuel, alcohol and tobacco products, remain in force.

"Such measures by Australia and other international partners, which support Ukraine's economy and expand trade opportunities, are vital for the recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine in the short and long term," the message reads.

Note that in 2021, the value of Ukrainian goods imported to Australia was about $122 million.

We will remind, on July 3, the Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albenizi met with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi in Kyiv.
