Certain categories of sailors will be allowed to go abroad
Ukrainian sailors will have the opportunity to cross the border with the approval of the territorial recruitment center. The Cabinet of Ministers made the relevant decision at a meeting on August 27.
"Men who are crew members of sea and river vessels and continue to work on vessels will be allowed to go abroad. As well as students (cadets) of educational institutions who have to undergo practical training on the vessel," Shmyhal said.
He stated that Ukraine is one of the world leaders in terms of the number of sailors. Therefore, such a decision "will provide employment to thousands of sailors and increase revenues to the budget."
The Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov specified that the government allowed the departure of only certain groups of sailors.
"The decision concerns:
- cadets (students) who have to undergo practical training on ships;
- crews of vessels involved in the export of Ukrainian agricultural products during the implementation of the Initiative on safe transportation through the Black Sea;
- a certain category of sailors who work abroad, exclusively with the agreement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," Kubrakov wrote on Facebook.
As for the last category, according to the available information, departure will be allowed with the approval of the military commissions for sailors whose 12 months have not yet passed since the end of the previous contract and who have been in Ukraine for more than 5 months.
