The new international automobile checkpoint "Krasnoilsk - Vikovu de Sus" on the Ukrainian-Romanian border will start working this week. Passage will be allowed for passenger cars and empty trucks.
It is noted that this checkpoint should relieve the only active checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Romanian border "Porubne-Siret". "Porubne - Siret crossing point is currently one of the busiest. The road to European ports goes through this crossing point and it is very important for Ukrainian exporters, and for cargo transport there is no alternative to travel from Ukraine to Romania. Other crossing points on the Ukrainian-Romanian along the border are not intended for the passage of trucks," said Minister of Infrastructure Aleksandr Kubrakov. He added that "Krasnoilsk - Vikovu de Sous" was designed from the beginning as a crossing point for pedestrians and light vehicles. "From now on, together with Romanian colleagues, a decision was made that "Krasnoilsk" will work for the passage of trucks. At first, only empty cargo vehicles will be allowed to pass. The next stage will be permission for the passage of trucks with our exports. This will become possible after the completion of works on the Romanian side." , - emphasized Kubrakov. So far, over 7 kilometers of the road have been overhauled, the MAPP territory and workplaces for representatives of all services have been arranged, the lighting system and the communication system have been installed, and the equipment necessary for the functioning of the checkpoint has been installed.
An agreement on the construction of the "Krasnoilsk - Vikovu de Sous" checkpoint was reached back in 2015. The construction took place within the framework of the "Open Border" project, thanks to this project, Ukraine plans to develop the already existing road border infrastructure to increase the capacity of the border in the direction of Ukraine - EU.
