The Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation noted that the European Union has been waiting for railway reform from Ukraine for a long time.
The reform of "Ukrzaliznytsia" and the removal of its monopoly status on the railway market will make it possible to gain competition in this market and reduce the tariff for freight transportation, said the president of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation, Leonid Kozachenko, commenting on the initiative of "UZ" to harmonize tariffs.

"The state should have a monopoly only on the railway itself. And not on the railway access roads, but on the central, trunk line. Most of the countries of the European Union have such a monopoly. Everything else should be privatized. And we would have tariffs fall today, I I think, against those that exist, by themselves at least by 30%, in some directions - by 50%," he noted.
Kozachenko reminded that the European Union has been waiting for this railway reform from Ukraine for a long time, but it is stalling.
"The European Union constantly tells us about the reform. Today, they have 308 companies that have licenses for the transportation of both passengers and cargo by railways throughout the territory of the European Union. Not a single state company is involved in these transportations. And Ukraine has a monopoly without competition. We were able to push through with great efforts for 10 years, there have been changes in the legislation, which gave the right to make private wagons. And now we have a lot of wagons. That's why it is necessary to provide private traction," concluded the president of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation.
We will remind that JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" submitted proposals to the Ministry of Infrastructure regarding the unification of tariffs for freight transportation. Business believes that the increase in tariffs will seriously affect the industry.
