The development of a preliminary feasibility study on the connection of the EU with Ukraine by the Eurorail has been started

The first personal meeting was held as part of the development of a preliminary feasibility study for the expansion of the railway network of the European standard 1435 mm to Ukraine and Moldova.

This was reported by Volodymyr Shemaev, deputy director of the investment activity department of "Ukrzaliznytsia". The development of the preliminary feasibility study will be carried out by the JASPERS technical advisory service of the European Investment Bank under the leadership of the Directorate of Mobility and Transport of the European Commission. According to Shemaev, the first session was devoted to planning the development of border crossing points. We will remind you that earlier the European Commission and the European Investment Bank (EIB) informed that they are starting work on the preparation of a preliminary technical and economic justification for the expansion of the railway network of the 1435 mm standard to Ukraine and Moldova. "The Commission, together with the EIB, is starting to prepare a preliminary feasibility study to assess how best to connect the Ukrainian and Moldovan railway networks with the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T)," the EIB statement dated October 21 said. The first results of the planned work should be ready by May 2023.
