European ports refuse to repair Russian fishing vessels
Ships of the Northern and Western basins, which were serviced in Norway, Finland, Poland and the Baltic countries, are facing failures.
In recent months, Russian fishing companies have been denied repair of ships in European ports.
As the president of the All-Russian Association of Fishermen Herman Zverev said, in recent years, about 400 of the most modern Russian vessels, which provide most of the catch, have been repaired abroad.
Russian enterprises do not have the technical ability to repair them, he explained.
But after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, foreign ports began to refuse to serve Russian ships. Ships of the Northern and Western basins, which were serviced in Norway, Finland, Poland and the Baltic countries, are facing failures.
The refusals are not related to sanctions restrictions, as fish products are not subject to sanctions, they are individual decisions of foreign companies, say the industry.
Fishing vessels need repairs every year, and the technical condition of the fleet can lead to a drop in catches.
