The loss of transport infrastructure from the war exceeded $ 41 billion

 

The direct losses of Ukraine's economy in transport and infrastructure due to the war on Wednesday, June 8, exceeded the mark of $ 41.4 billion.

During the 105 days of Russian aggression in Ukraine, at least 23.9 thousand km of roads and 6.3 thousand km of railways were damaged, destroyed or seized. At least 304 bridges and crossings, 12 military airfields, 11 civilian airports and 4 seaports were affected.

In particular, according to the announced data, damaged, destroyed or seized:

• 23.9 thousand km of roads - the amount of damage is estimated at $ 30.034 billion;

• 11 civilian airports - $ 6.817 billion;

• railway infrastructure and rolling stock - $ 2.672 billion;

• 304 bridges and bridge crossings - $ 1.692 billion;

• 4 ports and port infrastructure - $ 471 million;

• 12 military airfields - $ 468 million.

The loss of the world's largest transport aircraft An-225 "Dream" was estimated at $ 300 million.

Thus, the total damage to Ukraine's transport infrastructure is now estimated at $ 41.45 billion.

Straight and the losses of Ukraine's economy due to the war started by Russia on June 8, according to the KSE Institute, crossed the mark of $ 103 billion, or UAH 3 trillion.

The estimated total damage to the Ukrainian economy due to the war is in the range of $ 564-600 billion. This estimate takes into account, in addition to infrastructure losses, indirect losses (eg, GDP decline, investment cessation, labor outflows, additional defense and social support costs).

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops are shelling and destroying key infrastructure, massively shelling residential areas of Ukrainian cities and towns using artillery, rocket-propelled grenades and ballistic missiles.
