Ports of Great Odesa use up to 50% of capacity due to the artificial limitation of the Russian Federation's "grain corridor" operation

The Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Oleksandr Kubrakov, said that despite the fact that the "grain initiative" has been extended for 120 days, Russia still has the tools to artificially limit its capabilities.

He emphasized that 77 ships are waiting in line for inspection in Turkey, the ports of Great Odesa are using up to 50% of their capacity, the price of grain is increasing with each new blackmail from Russia.

"We had the experience of carrying out 40 inspections per day, now due to the position of the Russian Federation there are 5 times fewer inspections per day. In October, the "grain initiative" allowed the export of 4.2 million tons of grain, in November we will not be able to reach 3 million tons. At the same time, technically, we can reach 6 million tons per month," Kubrakov added.

The Minister of Infrastructure noted that the artificial delay leads to losses on the part of farmers and ship owners, as a result of which the most vulnerable sections of the population and countries on the verge of starvation lose. One day of downtime costs at least 30 thousand dollars.

Vessels now wait 2 to 5 weeks for inspection.

"Strategically, we should achieve not only speeding up inspections on the Bosporus, but also joining the Mykolaiv Ports Initiative and prolonging the agreement for at least a year. Regarding joining the Mykolaiv Ports Initiative, we have officially appealed to the UN and Turkey with a proposal to consider changes to the Initiative," he concluded. .
