Problems of functioning of the Ukrainian-Polish border will be discussed in Lublin

On December 12-13, Lublin will host the VI International Conference "The Polish-Ukrainian border - a chance or a barrier for development?".

As TTS informs, the organizers of the event are the Polish-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and the Higher School of Entrepreneurship and Administration. During the conference, proposals for solutions to improve the functioning of the Polish-Ukrainian border will be discussed, taking into account the challenges of the current geopolitical situation. Among the issues that are planned for consideration: ensuring export and import between countries and organization of humanitarian aid; capacity of the external border of the EU; increasing the efficiency of border services; optimization of road and rail traffic across the Polish-Ukrainian border; legal aspects of border functioning. As the organizers note, the topic of infrastructure and capacity of border crossings, queues, work of border, customs, phytosanitary and veterinary services, passenger and cargo traffic has been the subject of numerous discussions and debates for many years. Today, when a brutal war is going on in Ukraine, the issue of the border takes on special importance. Thanks to its location, Poland is becoming a kind of transport and logistics hub. This is a challenge and an opportunity to intensify cooperation in this area - today and in the future.

Representatives of central and local authorities, Polish and Ukrainian border and customs services, road and rail carriers and a number of other business entities are invited to participate in the discussion.

We will remind that earlier during the Intermodal in Poland 2022 conference, the director of "Levada-Cargo" (a subsidiary of "Lemtrans"), Volodymyr Demenko, proposed to open 24-hour veterinary and phytosanitary control points at railway crossings between Ukraine and Poland with a sufficient number of personnel. In addition, according to his conviction, it is necessary to introduce round-the-clock operation of Polish locomotives for delivery/reception of trains.
