The US State Department announced the introduction of sanctions against the Russian shipping company SASCO, which operates in the Far East, and all its "subsidiaries". As reported by Splash247, this decision was made after the Russian Federation disrupted the continuation of the grain agreement and began destroying Ukrainian seaports.
According to experts, the goal of the United States is to undermine Russia's ability to continue the war against Ukraine.
The Sakhalin company SASCO together with its subsidiaries owns a fleet of 14 merchant vessels. Since last year, since Western sanctions against the Russian Federation began to be introduced, it is she who is aboveprovided material and technical support to new energy projects of the Russian Federation and ensured the supply of export goods to alternative markets.
"SASCO has supported future energy projects by delivering construction materials and equipment by sea to the Taimyr Peninsula. SASCO is also involved in expanding Russia's trade routes to new jurisdictions as the Russian Federation seeks to replace the economic ties it lost due to the invasion of Ukraine," the US State Department said.
MPL Vanino Sakhalin LLC and Vostok Trade Invest JSC were included in the black list of sanctioned companies along with SASCO. The former is responsible for facilitating the rental and leasing of marine transport equipment, while the latter buys and sells real estate for SASCO.
Separately, the State Department imposed sanctions on AEM Propulsion of the Rosatom company, which manufactures and supplies elements of propulsion systems for ships, as well as the oil service companies Burovaya kompaniya Eurasia and Sibirskaya servisnaya kompaniya. Personal sanctions have been introduced against high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Russian Federation.
