UZ opened two railway sections near the border with Romania

"Ukrzaliznytsia" opened traffic on the Rakhiv-Berlebash-state border and Teresva-state border sections on August 26. These are 19.3 km and 1.1 km of new track, respectively.

"In the future, these two sections will become the third and fourth junctions on the border with Romania - our busiest direction. Their opening will allow an additional 6 pairs of freight trains to be sent there every day. This is an additional 3.5 million tons of cargo per year," said the head of JSC UZ Oleksandr Kamyshin.

"But this will become possible immediately after our Romanian colleagues repair their part of the station," added the head of Ukrzaliznytsia.

"Until then, suburban diesel train No. 6441/6442 Kolomyia-Rakhiv-Kolomiya, whose route has already been extended to the Dilove station on the border with Romania, will run on this section," Kamyshin summarized.

It should be noted that the event was somewhat spoiled by the fact that already on August 27, on the second day of the Dilove-Kolomiya train service, it derailed on the newly constructed Rakhiv-Berlybash section. "According to the passengers, the cart of the third car derailed near Rakhov. The reason seems to be the widening of the track," railway blogger Oleg Vasiliev reported on Facebook.
