According to the results of 2023, the volume of cargo transfer through the Chop-Zakhon border crossing increased by 55.8%. Valery Tkachov, deputy director of the commercial work department of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" said this during a meeting with representatives of Hungarian carriers on January 9.

Thus, in 2023, 1 million 113 thousand tons of cargo were transferred in both directions through the Chop-Zakhon crossing. Of these, 1 million 5 thousand tons were transported in export traffic, and 108 thousand tons in import traffic. Compared to 2022, the increase is 388.6 thousand tons, or 55.8%.

Such an indicator was achieved primarily due to the increase in the transfer of grain and grinding products, as well as construction materials. In addition, the import of petroleum products almost doubled.

At the same time, the volume of cargo transfer through the second Ukrainian-Hungarian crossing — Batyovo-Epereshke — last year decreased by almost 22%, or by 841,000 tons. The total figure was 3,24,000 tons. Of this volume, 2,952,000 tons were transferred in the export connection t, which is 21% (or 786 thousand t) less than in 2022. The volumes of grain and ore transfers decreased most significantly. The fall is also recorded in import traffic — to 72,000 tons. This is 43.5%, or 55,000 tons, less than in 2022. The most significant decrease was the transfer of oil products.
